WHO WE ARE

Nice to Meet You, Neighbor is a grassroots storytelling project dedicated to uplifting the voices of detained immigrants across the United States. We believe stories have the power to build empathy, challenge stereotypes, and remind us of the humanity behind headlines and policies.

We are friends, neighbors, organizers, and listeners. We’re not lawyers or officials—we’re people who believe no one should be forgotten or dehumanized simply for seeking safety or a better life.

Through direct stories from people in detention and their loved ones, we aim to show the truth: these are not strangers. These are neighbors. Parents. Students. Workers. People with hopes, families, and futures.

We share their stories—with care, consent, and dignity—because every voice deserves to be heard, and every story deserves to be known.
